My research explores the complex relationship between young adult online dating and the unspoken loneliness that often accompanies it. Through my work, I aim to shed light on the emotional impact of online dating on young adults' mental health and social connections. In my art, I use various mediums and techniques to explore the nuances of online dating and its impact on our sense of self and others. By creating a space for open dialogue and reflection, I hope to encourage individuals to engage with the emotional complexities of online dating and to recognize the potential positive and negative impacts it may have on their lives. Ultimately, my goal is to contribute to a deeper understanding of the ways in which technology and social media affect our social connections and our emotional wellbeing. By using my art as a medium for exploration and reflection, I hope to inspire a deeper conversation around these important issues.
The piece I have created using the techniques of Moving Zoom, Fixed Position, and 2 Cameras, is a reflection on the impact of online dating on young adults' sense of loneliness and connection. Through this work, I aim to capture the complexities of online dating and its relationship to our emotional experiences. Moreover, my strategy for this piece was to use the Moving Zoom technique to create a sense of intimacy and vulnerability, while the Fixed Position technique allowed me to explore the tension between the individual and their online dating experience. Additionally, the use of 2 Cameras allowed for a layered and nuanced portrayal of the subject's emotional state.
